AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! I Need Help!

Thanks to Hurricane Fay I got an unexpected day off this week. While my kid took a 4 hour nap to make up for all the partying she and her cousins did for a week I watched the first "baby" show that I have watched this whole pregnancy. It scared the crap out of me because every pregnant chick on there was ready with a nursery and everything for their kid and they were only 5 months along. Here I am over 7 months and I have not given more than a brief thought to what I need to do. I am really starting to freak. I wish I had money to have someone design things for me because I am terrible at this kind of stuff. It gives me butterflies just to think about color schemes, furniture, storage and the complete lack of space that I have to deal with. I bought Kadence new bedding and now have to pick paint and everything else to match. My boss promised me kid furniture to look at and see if I wanted it 3 months ago and I am still waiting to see it. (She said this week for sure but I have heard that before) I keep thinking if this kid comes early he will be sleeping in a pink and purple girls room. When Bryce is home tomorrow I need to make a babies r us run and look at car seats and strollers and stuff. If anyone has any bright ideas, book suggestions or websites that could help me on the decorating front let me know.

Man, I feel your pain. I remember when I was admitted into the hospital at 7 months after a doctor's appointment, not being able to go home, I had nothing.... Henry was sleeping in a makeshift crib when we finally brought him home. I vowed that I would be ready for this kid early. I just want to find out what the heck I'm having first, but that babe is being very stubborn.
Decorating ideas.... you got me on that one. I'm still trying to figure out how I am going to decorate Henry's room. Do you like themes? I'm not much of a theme fan, just looking for his bedding and taking idea's from them. So, maybe find his cribbing and grab the colors you like from that. I saw very cute crib sets at TJ maxx and Marshalls for a very decent price. Anyways, that all the advice i'm good for. Good luck. ~Kara

I still haven't decorated Amya's bedroom! I know that babies love black and white, so maybe you could get some family photo enlarged and frame it. Other than that, I would wait and see what kind of furniture you're going to get. Kara has a good idea of picking bedding first, than just use a neutral color from there and paint the walls.
Could you put Kadence's dresser in her new closet to save space in her room?...or hang another rod in her closet (her clothes aren't very long), then you've doubled the amount of hanging room you have for her clothes. Amya doesn't have a dresser, so I hang all her clothes, even her t-shirts. It is easier to find clothes when they're hanging.
Another idea...Target sells the fabric cubbies with the shelves that fit them. If you don't get the new furniture, you could try that for either kid. Hmmm...I'll keep thinking!.........c.

its so wierd for me to read this point of view because it is so foreign to me. I am terrible with themes and color schemes, nothing ever matches, but i thrive on playing around with the possibilities and just feel it out. Neutral is good until you find something you love. I love the black and white photo idea, none of my rooms are ever fully done, all are in a state of evolution. juneau's room looks like crap, to make you feel normal. It is a loft, it is the last place in the house. He's a boy, he wont care. I am thinking of constructing a wall to give him a real room, and maybe some curtains, we'll see....so far he has a play pen to sleep in and a co-sleeper i found for $5 so i wont squish him in bed.- love dani

Danielle - I want to be like you when I grow up.

As far as decorating...I always dream of being able to buy Pottery Barn stuff...unfortunately that will never happen...but you can get good ideas from their website and try to replicate them.

Suria, you should check out Ikea's website. They have super cute kids room ideas and their stuff is inexpensive. I got some ideas for Max's room from there.don't worry about not having stuff done either, you will start nesting and get everything done in like a day. thats what i did.

I just read these comments and immediately went to the ikea website. I was so sucked in that i just tried to screw a bottle cap onto my open box of cheez-its.

Thanks for all the great ideas! The walls are all a big mess because I keep putting paint samples everywhere and sometimes Kadence and I end up painting pictures-there are several badly painted horses and landscapes on the walls in colors that I don't like. The furniture I was promised has not appeared at work yet but i am still hopefull. I am going to try some websites that have been suggested! Thanks everyone!

Hey..I just checked out Pottery Barn and thought I'd mention I meant Pottery Barn Kids. I'm sure you could figure that out on your own....but anyways...if you click on shop by room...that's where you can get all your ideas...

we have a new IKEA here in Orlando by the way. Some stuff doesn't seem like it's all that great of a buy though. It's like really cheap furniture...and overpriced for how cheap it is. Some stuff is good though. For a kids room I guess it doesn't matter...
