Sledding!

We made our annual trip to Flagstaff today to go sledding. It was 60 degrees and beautiful! Most of us didn't wear coats or gloves because it was so warm. We got lots of sledding in and threw lots of snowballs. Charlie even had a run down the hill! Kadence is having a ball with her cousins and Robin and so are we!

Out of the office...

We are in Arizona for the next two weeks so I am warning everyone that I will be majorly slacking on the blog-front. Christmas, baptism and sledding pictures will be coming after January 6th! Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Week!

Merry Christmas!

REVENGE!

For all those wondering where the picture is, the website will not let me download it which I find very strange. I will be trying again later. For those wondering what picture is to be posted, Bryce has sought revenge towards his siblings and has demanded his sisters be posted alongside of his Dad. All personal threats and scroogery should be directed to him. Pictures-coming soon to a website near you!

I just can't help myself

I just love posting pictures of my little buddy-he is so cute! It is so fun to listen to Kadence talk to him. She will be walking by and just look at him and say "Hi buddy" and keep moving. She always tells me what he needs when he is crying and she is usually right. It's like he has been here forever!

Gingerbread House

Here is the gingerbread house that Kadence and I put together. She decorated the roof and ate lots of candy along the way! She looks so sweet and innocent, its hard to imagine that hours later at a birthday party she assaulted the jumpy house guy that was picking the jumpy house up! She swatted him with a balloon and screamed "NO!" when she saw him deflate it!

2 Weeks Until Christmas

Well, Cheryl prevails again somehow so here is Bryce's picture. Just to make things a little more interesting next week, the new poll will feature the creator of all these Nelson kids: the Burt man himself in a head to head battle with Carol. Good luck you two!

Dilemma

I am wondering what picture I am going to post tomorrow if Bryce and Cheryl are still tied for votes. If anyone happens to have a picture of Cheryl and Bryce exposing their behinds please send it my way!

Return Policy

The out of pocket cost for delivering this cute little guy is over $2800, despite the lenient return policy, we've decided to keep him.

Smiley Guy!

Charlie is starting to give us some smiles lately! He has also been rolling from his tummy to his back when I lay him down to do tummy time! He has been doing it since his 4 week birthday which basically beats Kadence's record of doing it at 7 months by a longshot!

Snowfest

Here is Kadence sledding this weekend at the St. Pete Snowfest. She was one of the smallest kids I saw sled on her own. It was a relief that she made it down without falling off the sled because due to 75degree weather conditions the snow was actually knife sharp shards of ice that were shredding people's arms up like road rash when they fell.
We watched the Santa parade which had an awesome Star Wars group that looked like they stepped right out of the movie complete with a "real" R2D2 leading their group. Kadence talked all day about the storm trooper who pointed his gun at her.
Some wierdo had his pet Anaconda around his neck at the parade and Kadence did not give up until Bryce took her over there to see it. Some other kids joined in and the man looked at Bryce and said "It is ok?" because he wanted to put the snake around our kids neck, when Bryce said yes the guy started putting it around some other little girl's neck! Bryce was standing there saying "Wait thats not my kid!" I bet her parents were freaking out!

A Cheeky Tie

There are no butts about it...it was a tie. Carol and Bryce you should either be ashamed at or very proud of the votes you conjured up this week. As Burt Nelson said "Most people gain hindsight with age, but these two have lost it!"
Now as for the pictures that I thought I would be posting, they are still up for grabs for next week. The Polls are officially open again!

The Poll

I am shocked to see that now that I have a poll posted that determines who will be embarassed on this blog next, it has the most votes of any poll I have ever posted! Just shows what kind of friends we have! Carol, I know you are nervous about this but think of it this way, if you had nicer friends they could save you from any possible humiliation-they just don't want to! Bryce is slightly upset to see that you two have been in a dead heat! I have a doozy of a picture of him(and just about everyone else, ironically there were no really great ones of John who I am sure would not be embarassed of anything anyways!) Keep up the votes everyone!

The Scowl

Charlie is constantly scowling at everything as you can see by his forehead. He will have to get botox soon if he keeps this up.

Kadence the Monster

Kadence wanted to have her "monster face" posted, so here it is...

Bon Voyage!

Here are the Nelson parents leaving our house to go on a cruise out of Tampa. They called 2 hours after this picture to brag about eating gourmet food on the lido deck! My left over soup for dinner last night was even more unappetizing when I imagined them ordering seconds of lobster tail and filet mignon!

The Nelson Weekly Advent Calendar

You have all heard by now that I did some recognisance work at the Nelson's house on Thanksgiving. I have decided that each week until Christmas a posting of each Nelson child will be presented as a countdown to Christmas. John will be the first posting instead of Cheryl because she has been a blogging maniac the last few days so I truly cannot punish her for being lazy like I said I would. So here it is, just over 3 weeks until Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We are spending the day with the Nelsons in Pine Island and eating massive amounts of food. I am doing some detective work while I am down here which will help me fulfill my promise to "make Cheryl pay" for not updating her blog frequently enough for my liking. I was supposed to do something this summer but I slacked so now it is payback time. While I am at it, I may have to make others pay for her blog-slacking too-because I have compiled some wonderful material. Man, I am so glad that none of you have access to my parent's house! Happy Thanksgiving!

What I am thankful for...

Here is Kadence waited to eat her Thanksgiving lunch at school. I am thankful that she has a great sense of humor; when I spilled a glass of water the other night she shouted "Great Ceasar's Ghost!"

Thanksgiving Feast

Today was the annual Thanksgiving Feast at school. Kadence was the cutest pilgrim and her class performed a couple of songs which she did not know since she has skipped school for the past month. Every once in a while she would sing the "gobble gobble" part of the song but that was all she knew. Little brother was in attendance and was a big hit.

He looks so innocent...

Yesterday Kadence learned what her life will be like with a little brother. I was changing Charlie's diaper on the changing table and she was sitting on the couch in his room several feet away when he pooped and it went flying everywhere. In an instant she said "Mommy, he pooped on my nose, isn't that funny!" She had a little piece of poop on her nose and a piece in her hair too. She got a thourough bath afterwards!

Hanging out!

Here is a typical evening spent watching tv together. Kadence brought me my camera because she wanted me to take a picture of the three of them together. When the picture is her idea, she is all smiles!

First Bath

Charlie's cord finally fell off last night with some surgical assistance from mommy so today was brother and sister bath time. He seemed to like it and Kadence loved dumping water on his feet. Just a warning, this picture is rated R for full frontal nudity and will someday be used to embarass Charlie in front of his Prom date.

You talkin to me?

This look usually means "Hey you, check my diaper!"

Go Red Wings!

Ok, I know what you are thinking, "This chick is insane!" This is a picture of Charlie and I enjoying a Red Wings game last night. He is wearing his Red Wings jammies that Aunt CC bought for our future children to wear many years ago. He mostly slept and was jarred awake by the goal buzzer and shouts of the crowd. Even all the noise and action did not upset him he just got wide-eyed and lifted his head up to check things out. Other Red Wings fans loved his outfit and applauded me for being such a devoted fan. We are sure he was the youngest fan there at a mere 11 days old!

This is as exciting as Charlie's day gets...

Auntie requested a current video of Charlie so I took a video of the most exciting part of his day. Not much happens when you are 10 days old so managing to get your two middle fingers into your mouth for a good suck is exciting. He is actually pretty good at getting those two fingers in his mouth, everyone has their own special talent I guess.

It's a Mystery...

Charlie got a package via UPS today with these two books in it. They were purchased by someone on Amazon.com but there is no card, name or indication of who purchased them. Until someone fesses up I will assume they are from the African man who onced worked for a Shiek or Prince in Africa and would like me to accept him as a friend on Facebook. I am sure that my bank account can help him with the transfer of funds he seems to be having a problem with. He seems to be on the up and up....
This reminds me of a story: About 7 years ago when Bryce worked for the UPS store in a post 9/11 world where every strange package should be assumed to contain anthrax, Bryce received a strange package in the mail. It was from an unknown address in Chicago so I racked my brain trying to think of who would send it from Chicago since I had family from there. We finally tried a computer search and also called information trying to get a phone number but with no luck. Days later John Nelson called to see if Bryce ever received the package he bought off of ebay. In the package was the abominable snowman from the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer cartoon that plays on tv at Christmas time.

Where's my Sister!

By now Charlie is surely enjoying his only child status since Kadence is still in Pine Island livin large! I was supposed to pick her up this morning but when I sent the text saying I was getting ready to come I was asked for another day of Kadence time. My head is killing me today so I will take advantage of the quiet. A newborn is much easier to deal with than a three year old who is used to going to school everyday and being entertained! Charlie and I made our way to the grocery store alone yesterday. I was so proud of myself for doing it! He slept the whole time so it was easy. This picture of Charlie looks amazingly like my newborn picture. I wish I had access to it so I could post it too. When I go to Az next time I will get some copies to compare!

Bon Voyage Kadence!

Yesterday, Grandma Chris and Grandpa Burt packed up their car to leave our house and Kadence starting crying to me that she wanted to go. It was so sad and maybe it's the hormones but it just about made me start to cry so I looked at Bryce and said "What do you think?" minutes later she was in their truck pulling out of the driveway with a small overnight bag and blowing us kisses. As they were getting ready to pull out Kadence looked at Bryce and said "Call me when you are ready!" Bryce is back to work today so it is helpful to have a little less to worry about on my first day home alone with Charlie. I will meet the Nelsons halfway to Pine Island in a day or two to pick her up if they can keep up with her for that long.

Charlie initiated me last night when he made some gagging faces in my lap and I put him on my shoulder to pat his back he puked lots and lots of puke on me. Kadence never spit up once but I guess we can't get that kind of anti-puke perfection with every kid.

Charlie

Vote!

Just a reminder! I bought this Saturday night at the mall with the hope he would be here to wear it and it worked!

My new man

The official name is...

We filled in the blank middle name on this form minutes before we had to turn it in and the official name is Charles Noah Nelson to honor Bryce's grandfather and my great-grandfather.

Charlie!

Well our little Charlie is here! He wasted no time entering the world promptly on his due date! Our parking pass for the garage at the hospital was printed at 6:50am and he was born at 7:59 am! He is gorgeous and quiet like his big sister and she loves him to pieces already! He doesn't really look like anyone just yet but he has black hair as our poll results predicted! 7lbs 8oz and 20.5inches of adorable! Middle name to be announced!

Kadence and Charlie

No comment necessary...

Kadence is showering her new little brother with some big sister love. Charles ----- Nelson (the middle name is still being decided) weighs 7lbs 8oz and has black hair. Much more to come.

The Halloween Crew

No matter how many times we tried, one kid was always purposely closing their eyes for pictures!

Trick or Treat

In our neighborhood, Halloween is an opportunity for the adults to have a few adult beverages while the kids collect candy. We strapped a little cooler to the stroller and Bryce and my mom enjoyed some Halloween beers while we strolled. Our set up did not compare to the parents with entire wagons full of Wine bottles and glasses!

SuperCousins!

Here are Superman and Spiderman preparing for a night of candy haggling. Yes, I did say candy haggling because the little scammers never left a house with only one piece of candy regardless of how many lectures we gave them. Kadence and Christian would insist on extra pieces for their moms or little brothers and everyone fell into their trap. Kadence literally stood and argued with a woman who refused to provide her with an additional piece. After several long minutes of watching this from the end of her driveway I had to go apologize to the woman and drag my crying kid away from her door. One spooky house scared Christian so much that he would only approach houses with absolutely no Halloween decorations and one of the adults had to go with him. In the end, they got tons of candy and juice boxes and had a feeding frenzy. As responsible adults, we ate several pieces to help prevent them from having any future tooth decay.

Aquarium Touch Tank

We made a trip to the pier aquarium yesterday. The kids fed the saltwater hermit crabs and got official certificates. They especially loved finding Nemo and Dori and checking out the lobsters and little yellow sea horse. The woman who sold tickets to get in admitted to me later that when she first saw me she said to the other employees "Man, I hope she doesn't go into labor here, it's crazy enough around here without that kind of action." I took her down. Ok , maybe I didn't take her down but I envisioned myself smashing into her like a linebacker at football practice several times. As for any labor updates all I can say is I am not going there right now and if you called me and I didn't answer my phone yesterday it was probably on purpose because I am not talking about it!
