Not for the faint of heart
These are a couple of pics of Bryce's leg. He won't exactly be running any marathons in the near future. I don't think the pictures truly do justice to the beautiful colors that I see face to face but at least you get an idea. I didn't get the inner portion of his leg in the picture which completes 3 exact sides of a rectangle. You can see the perfect dimensions of the trailer based on the wound. Many people weren't sure what exactly happened so the short story is that while driving a forklift on an incline, gravity pulled the forklift(which was loaded with a heavy palette of cement) backwards and even with the throttle all the way forward there was no stopping it. It smashed him between the forklift and a trailer and the trailer had 2 bolts which punctured his leg. He was stuck there for several minutes because no one knew what to do and no one wanted to move anything off of his leg for fear of bleeding or anything else. His ankle was at a wierd angle when he was stuck and that it was bothers him the most. His leg doesn't exactly straighten or bend the way it should so walking is an issue. Kadence does a great impression of how he walks...I will have to get it on video for everyone to see!

Drug Dealers
When Kadence and Grandpa Burt get together it is time for the pill bag to come out! She loves helping to organize pills onto the little dishes and making sure he and Grandma Chris have drinks so they can take them. She has to put them into their mouths and everything. Between this and the bandaid obsession I think we have a little Doctor on our hands. (But don't call her Doc because she will remind you that she is "Kadence Brooke Nelson!") Bryce's sudden demand for daily dressing changes on his bashed up leg and his need for pain killers is also feeding this obsession!First trip to the Dinner Theatre!
Kadence's first dinner theatre experience! She passed out in the car on the way there so when it was time for dinner we laid her acrossed some empty chairs and enjoyed ourselves. She woke up to eat a while later and then when the show was starting she started talking like Dora the Explorer.(She frequently does this!) She leans over to me and says "Mommy, when you see Toto, Yell TOTO!" I was scared to death that she was going to actually do it when the dog came out but fortunately I got lucky and she did not. When Dorothy started singing Kadence got giddy. She couldn't believe it and was giggling and smiling, this wore off after about fifteen minutes and she would not stop saying "I don't like this movie!" Needless to say we left at intermission but overall it was very fun. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Forklift + Gravity = ER Visit

While driving a forklift at work today, Bryce and gravity had a falling out and he lost. He was pinned between a trailer and a forklift with a palatte of cement on it which was pressing downhill against his leg. Two bolts puntured his calf and he spent the day in the hospital getting shots, x-rays and stitches. He is in pain tonight but luckily nothing is broken and he is on some good drugs. This pic is of the damage to his pants! The damage to his ego was much more severe than anything. Several people from work came to the hospital to check on him and he had been stripped down to the "Monkey Business" boxer shorts his mom bought him. They all got a good laugh!

We're off to see the Wizard.......

We are going to Pine Island tomorrow to help close up the house for the summer and we are all going to see the Wizard of Oz at night. Lets just hope Kadence finds the lollipop guild as humorous as I do! If this is any indication of her sense of humor, she sang this song to me the other night (perfectly in tune I might add!) "A B C D E F G, I don't like my mommy." It was absolutely impossible to hold my laughter in!

A Boy!
Since our goal as parents is to embarass our children whenever possible we would like to begin early by showing the world wide web our son's winkie! It is most definately a boy and although a little difficult to tell that is basically a picture taken as if he was sitting on a copy machine at the company Christmas party and you were looking at the Xerox. That is his butt at the bottom right of the screen.
Kadence's Best Friend
Kadence is baby-sitting the brand spanking new school guinea pig for the next week. It was a total surprise to her and she is thrilled. We are getting a little worried that she is going to drive the poor thing crazy because she will never leave it alone. Her name is Maddie but Kadence frequently calls her "Mr. Guinea Pig" and says "She likes me, that's why she is my best friend!" It is very cute but we will be driving the poor guinea pig to the guinea pig mental ward any time. That will be one tiny little straight jacket!Thursday, June 12, 2008
